Expecting a great future
It makes sense that a company centred around new life would want to focus on the future. The centrepiece of Mothercare’s supplier conference was a vision of “Today, Tomorrow and Beyond” — and making sure the future didn’t falter before it had started was Creative Solutions.

Founded in 1961, Mothercare now operates 1,060 stores worldwide, selling clothing and other products geared to expectant mothers and children up to the age of eight. Mothercare also owns the Early Learning Centre, supplying high-quality toys that combine educational value with fun.
Mothercare’s supplier conference attracted an audience of six hundred international trade suppliers and industry experts, and they were treated to four hours of presentations. This included eleven speakers and sixteen videos, as well as presentations integrating both PowerPoint and Prezi software, a system focused on allowing presentations to tell a story rather than being simply a series of slides.
To deliver this, we transformed Mothercare’s bespoke conference arena. We installed lighting, a very large format screen and A/V equipment, and this was run from two laptops, allowing us to integrate the live Prezi presentations.
To the Launchpad and Beyond
It wasn’t just about the nuts and bolts, though. The conference was built around Mothercare’s vision of the future: LAUNCHPAD — Today, Tomorrow and Beyond. Mothercare trusted us to develop and communicate their vision to the international suppliers, built around the eye-catching logo. With space-travel to Mars and beyond very much back on the world’s agenda, the image of launching into space provided an arresting vision of a positive future.
The conference was a triumphant success. A delighted Michael Fierstone, Head of Merchandising & Clothing, commented: “Thank you for your invaluable help. We got the message across really well, and all managed expertly from you and your team.”
From concept to creation…
We were delighted to help to give birth to Mothercare’s vision of the future. The creation of our designs may not be quite on a par with the creation of life, but there are elements in common. The conception of the idea; nurturing its growth and caring for it as it emerges; eventually letting go when our creation is ready to run on its own legs.
Like Mothercare, Creative Solutions will always look to the future, while valuing the basic human instincts for creation. Maybe one of the children Mothercare supports will radically change design, and if so we’ll be ready for that change.
And who knows? Maybe Creative Solutions will create the press conference designs for the first colony on Mars.
