Launching a hi-tech hotel chain​

At Creative Solutions, we stage events at some prestigious locations, as well as a few that only exist in cyber-space. There’s something, though, about a cosmopolitan hotel in the heart of London’s West End that isn’t easy to beat.

Whitbread is one of our biggest clients, and we’ve created a number of triumphantly successful projects for them. So, when their hotel section, Premier Inn, wanted a spectacular launch for their new brand, hub by Premier Inn, it was to Creative Solutions they turned.

 

Premier Inn accounts for around 70% of Whitbread’s total revenue. It runs over 750 hotels all over the UK, as well in Ireland, Germany, India and the UAE, with locations including city centres and airports.

 

The new brand, hub by Premier Inn, is more targeted, though. These are stylish, cosmopolitan hotels in prime locations in London and Edinburgh, with their own dedicated app allowing guests to do everything from checking in to adjusting the room temperature from their mobile device.

 

The brief was to develop, stage and present it at the event in the brand’s flagship Covent Garden hotel.

State-of-the-art technology for hub

 

The focus of the presentation was to highlight hub by Premier Inn’s state-of-the-art technology, including their customer app, and their general ease of booking in, as well as their reduced bedroom footprint.

 

We used a suite of widely available software, including PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Quark Xpress, Apple Pages, Keynote and Quicktime 7. Much of the time, there’s no need to use specialist software — it’s what you do with it that really counts.

Overnight printing for delegate packs

 

We designed and created the presentation, signing off the print and production work the night before to make sure everything was completely up to date. We pulled out all the stops to get the whole lot printed overnight — 250 delegate presentation packs, various staff biogs and the outline of the concept behind hub by Premier Inn.

 

Both the event and the brand were a great success. According to Whitbread's former Investor Relations Director, Joan Russell: “The slides looked lovely ­– the presentation in hub by Premier Inn, Covent Garden, was a great success.”And the brand? There are now five hub by Premier Inn hotels open, with another nine in development. We’d like to think the presentation we created and staged made some contribution to that success.
